Carp Fishing In Wiltshire
There are many opportunities for carp fishing in Wiltshire, but in this article we are going to focus on the wonderful Blackland Lakes in Calne.
Directions To Blacklands Lakes
Located just 2 miles from Calne, Blacklands Lakes is popular with guests staying at the camp site, along with local anglers and those travelling from further afield.
With Swindon and Bath not a million miles away, this fishery is accessible to anglers via the M4, A4 and A350. For those holidaying in the area, the North Wessex Downs are literally on the doorstep, offering the perfect family day out in between fishing sessions.
Blacklands Lakes
Heron Lake is home to the larger carp on this complex and, although it is only 1 acre in size, it benefits from deeper water levels that vary between 4ft to 12ft. The lake record carp is in excess of 25lb.
While this is the specimen lake of the complex, there are still some smaller fish present, so it is important to adjust your tactics accordingly. Introducing bait at regular intervals keeps the interest levels up, which will naturally interest the lake’s larger residents and allow you to start picking off the better fish. Don’t be shy to experiment with large hookbaits, whether that is 18mm+ boilies, or big chunks of luncheon meat.
